Day 4 :: Digging Deep

Tired from a lack of sleep, tired from correcting little people all day, tired because life is busy and I can't keep up with the pace that it sets.

Do I really have time to dig deep those roots that I need in order to truly thrive?

Digging takes work.

Digging is necessary.

In some quiet moment of my day I must dig a hole of time to open God's Word and bury myself deep in His truth.

No excuses are allowed.

"Stand by the roads and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls."
-Jeremiah 6:16

We might think that sleep or vacation or zoning out is going to cure our weariness.  True rest is found in the Ancient Word.

And as we dig in the Word we will uncover the truths of God and we will know Him, trust Him, and want to keep digging.

As we dig deeper, our lives will take root and we can wait in eager expectation for the growth that God will bring to truly enable us to thrive.

Will you dig today and keep digging so that you are buried deep in Him?

I'm going to try to highlight some other bloggers who are participating in the 31 Days.  Many of you may have seen this yesterday, but Ann Voskamp is writing a great topic, and yesterday's post was on hope.  I like what she had to say about digging:

"Like the faith diggers do every day. We bury our swollen prayers in Him who’s raised from the tomb. We lay our hope, full and tender, into the depths of Him and wait in hope for God to resurrect something good. Good always necessitates long waiting."
-Ann Voskamp, A Holy Experience-

  1. Thank you for this. Its been so long since I've been away from my children, had some rest/relaxation and have been complaining about getting away for a little vacation. True rest is what I need to be focusing on....

I would love to get your feedback on any post! Comments make my day, and I will do my best to get back with you as soon as I can. Thanks!
